Patients entitled to NHS care retain the full rights and privileges of an NHS patient despite consulting with a Private Clinician (this is the case all over the UK).
These rights, ingrained in the NHS constitution have been legally tested on many occasions (you may remember the furore surrounding patients topping up their care for cancer treatment and medication).
The NHS subsequently clarified the position of NHS patients and the interface between NHS and private care.
When you consult our clinicians, you pay for your consultation. You will also be required to cover the cost of any medication dispensed by us or at the pharmacy. These costs are kept to a minimum and usually cost less than £5. If you wish any special services e.g. procedures and operations these attract an additional fee to cover training, costs and insurance.
In terms of onward referral and further care, as an NHS patient you retain the right to be referred for NHS care by our clinician. This includes (but is not restricted to) urgent admission to hospital, any out-patient referral to the hospital, any investigation at the hospital e.g. x-ray, ultrasound or scan.
Of course, you may request to be referred or investigated Privately. This is at your discretion. Our clinician will advise you on the most cost effective and sensible way to maximise your Healthcare journey.
