Dr Morgan is an NHS trained GP who qualified from Edinburgh University in 2004. He trained extensively in Scotland and England before relocating home to Newry where he was educated at St. Colman’s College. Dr Morgan has been an NHS GP Partner in both England and Northern Ireland and is acutely aware of the health inequalities we face locally. He has also worked for over 10 years in acute and unscheduled care and is well placed to deliver an Out-of-Hours service responsive to modern needs.
Dr Morgan gained Membership of the Royal College of General Practice and the Diploma in Family Planning, Sexual and Reproductive Health from the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He has been an NHS GP Principal since 2010. Dr Morgan has qualifications in Minor Surgery from the R.C.G.P. and R.C.S. and certification in the insertion and removal of contraceptive implants. He has been undertaking Surgical procedures regularly for over 10 years.
Last year Dr Morgan completed accredited training through MedCo allowing him to act as a Medical Expert for the assessment of low value soft tissue injuries (commonly referred to as whiplash). This qualification is a pre-requisite for all GP/first report Medical Experts in England in line with the Government’s Civil Procedure Rules which came into force on 1st January 2016.
Dr Morgan has gone on to develop an interest in Aesthetic Medicine and Procedures, training with MATA (Medical and Aesthetic Training Academy – 1 Harley Street), in the assessment and delivery of dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle therapy and completion of their Foundation course. He is supplementing this knowledge with further training and is currently taking Level 7 training in anti-wrinkle and dermal filler injections – the new industry standard in Aesthetic Training and Competency.
A Level 7 qualification is now recommended by Health Education England’s 2016 Qualification Requirements for Delivery of Cosmetic Procedures. It is recommended by Health Education England, Professional Groups and Royal Colleges that from 2018 this Level 7 qualification should be mandatory for all aesthetic practitioners undertaking injectable treatment.
Upon the completion of this Masters Level Qualification he plans upon Diploma Training in Dermatology.

Mr Stephen Ward, Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Primary & Urgent Care
RN DipN(Lond)MFEN NMP
Stephen has joined us from London having returned home to N. Ireland. He has many years of experience working as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in NHS Primary Care Centres in London. Stephen is experienced in both A+E and Primary Care and works independently.
As an Advanced Nurse Practitioner Stephen has the same prescribing rights as a GP, he can look after acute and chronic conditions in adults and children, arrange both referrals and investigations as appropriate.
Advanced Nurse Practitioners are the saviours of modern General Practice and are now extensively used across England, Wales & Scotland. Their contribution to patient care has meant that Primary Care Services have been maintained and gotten stronger out-with Northern Ireland.
Prior to coming home, Stephen had been working in a ground breaking surgery which is completely Nurse Run and led, with minor GP support. This surgery recently made the news and was awarded “Outstanding” status by the CQC.
